WASHINGTON, DC, April 27, 2005 -- The Phillips Foundation today announced the winners of a record $269,500 in merit-based scholarships for academic year 2005-06 under its Ronald Reagan Future Leaders Scholarship Program. Established in 1999, the Ronald Reagan Future Leaders Scholarship Program offers renewable and one-time scholarships to college undergraduates who demonstrate exceptional achievements as campus leaders on behalf of freedom, American values, and Constitutional principles.

There are 64 first-time scholarship winners and 24 students receiving scholarship renewals for academic year 2005-06. Last year, the Foundation’s Trustees awarded $259,000 in scholarships to 46 new winners and 15 renewals. Renewable scholarships are awarded to sophomores to take effect at the start of the junior year. They may seek a renewal for the senior year. One-time awards are made to current juniors for their senior year.

The Phillips Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1990 to advance Constitutional principles, a democratic society, and a vibrant free enterprise system.
