Bio:

Covina, Calif., attends the University of California-San Diego and is majoring in political science and international relations. Her grandparents are Cuban immigrants; one grandfather was imprisoned for disagreeing with Fidel Castros policies and her grandmother was forced to work in the sugar cane fields for two years as punishment for seeking an exit visa. A member of the College Republicans, she is Southern Region Vice Chair of the state College Republicans. She served as Southern Region Coalition Chair of Students for McCain. She has interned for Congressman David Dreier (R-CA) and was political director for a San Diego City Council candidate. She is an instructor for Democracy in Action, which teaches elementary-school students about the American political system and the importance of civic engagement.
